HFGCS Wiki
This is the HFGCS Wiki. It is noncommittally dedicated to documenting information about the United States' High Frequency Global Communications System, as well as Emergency Action Messages and other things that the system is used to broadcast. If you've found this wiki, you shouldn't have done! It's not even a work-in-progress, it's barely gotten started.
One of the goals I would have for this wiki would be to ensure there isn't too much jargon where there doesn't need to be – I've sort of "given up" in the livestream chatbox and become more passive, but even if something is accepted terminology for the SWL community, I don't really care. However, the Baud rate article is a good example of the sort of tone I think this Wiki should shoot for. Instead of getting lost in acronyms or overly technical explanations, or even necessarily emulating the typical encyclopedic 'voice' that Wikis tend to go for, articles should be written practically and with some level of familiarity, if not humor. (ofc don't try to force humor for its own sake, but an article is coming across overly dry and you're boring yourself writing it, that's a cue to consider the audience might not find it too interesting, either)

FYI: If you make a new account right now, you can't create or edit any articles – you can only create and edit talk pages. This will remain in place for now since this Wiki hasn't officially launched, but if you're coming from the Patreon preview and want access, leave a note on my talk page and we'll take a look. (The medium-term idea is users will contribute suggested information to the talk page for senior users to incorporate into the article, until we all have a consistent idea of what we want these things to look like.)
